Co Junior League Group 4 Final

Kilcummin 1-7  Glenbeigh / Glencar 1-10

Played in Beaufort our Junior players failed to complete an excellent campaign by capturing the title but this game was in doubt to the final whistle. A great passing movement by Tommy Brosnan, Daniel Moynihan, and Daniel Kelly was rounded off in style by Shane Smyth to the opponents net and set up a grandstand finish. However G /G were the stronger and more experienced team and hung on for a second title in a row. We trailed 5 points to 4 at half time with Gavin O Leary, Chris Keane and Mikey O Shea getting the points. The second half scorers were Mikey O Shea 0-2 and a further Chris Keane free but apart from the goal we found it difficult to penetrate the opponents defence. Well done to all the players and management who gave a great commitment throughout the county league and East Kerry competitions.

Team  Tommy Brosnan, Chris Keane, Daniel Moynihan, Eric O Connor, Eoin Guillfoyle, Anthony O Sullivan, Gavin O Leary, Shane Snyth, Michael O Neill, Mikey O Shea, Chris Keane, Paul O Riordan, Dean Cronin, Daniel Kelly, Jer Sheehan, Subs used Tommy Cooper, Jake Moynihan, Oscar O Connor

Management  S. B. Doherty, Tommy Cooper, Alan Doolan.

Ladies Football

Congratulations to our Senior Ladies who beat Dr Crokes in the semi-final of the Mary Joe Curran on Friday last and qualified to meet Spa in the decider. They also take on Austin Stacks in the final of the Junior A Championship on the evening of September 9th at a venue yet to be confirmed. It is important that they are well supported on these occasions as they are an outstanding group and deserve our support.

Kerry Minors

Congratulations to James Foley and his fellow mentors who have guided Kerry to another All-Ireland final and we wish them and the team all the best in the final.

Junior Football

Our Juniors are in the Co League final against Glenbeigh/Glencar. This is scheduled for this Friday but may be subject to change after Kerry’s loss to Dublin.

Senior County League Round 10 vs. Austin Stacks Report

Credit Union Co. League Div 1    Austin Stacks 1-16 Kilcummin 2-10

This was a great performance from our senior team in Connolly Park on Saturday night. Played at a real championship pace we matched our illustrious opponents for the entire 60 mins and at the end it took a great save and the crossbar to deny us a well deserved league point. A point that would have a great influence on the final round of the co league. As it is we are depending on a highly unlikely win by  Rahillys over Mitchells in the final round to give us the opportunity to maintain our Div 1 status. Credit is due to our players for a heartwarming performance and gives us confidence facing our championship games against Milltown/Castlemaine and Glenflesk in the coming month. Team Tommy Brosnan Sean Brosnan, Damien O Leary, William Maher, Daniel O Leary, Gavin O’Connor, Daniel Moynihan, Shane McSweeney, Kevin Gorman, James Devane, Noel Duggan, Eric O’Connor, Chris O Leary, Kevin McCarthy, Richie O’Connor. Subs used Philip Casey, Paul O Riordan, Shane Smyth.

Co Junior League Kilcummin V Na Gaeil Friday 27th May in Kilcummin

Garveys Co Championship Rd 2

Kilcummin 1-10 West Kerry 1-15

Our senior team bowed out of this year’s county championship in Kilcummin on Saturday last going down to a West Kerry side who were determined and impressive. Our team gave us two contrasting performances in either half. The first half was full of fast free flowing football with some fine scores numerous chances created and a half time lead of 7 points. The second half saw us struggle throughout and only manage two points in a period where the opposition scored nine points without reply. However there was a lot to enthuse about and the management team will know that with a higher level of fitness and injuries clearing up that this team can repeat that first half performance over an entire game in the season ahead.

The focus now turns to preparing for the Club Championship relegation battle, Credit Union Co League and The O Donoghue cup where we are drawn away to Glenflesk in the first round.

The Junior team face Legion in the early round of the O’Sullivan Cup

Round 1 Mid Kerry 3-12 Kilcummin 1-13
Our supporters travelled in big numbers to Killorglin on Sunday last to support the lads in this first rd game and although the result was disappointing there was praise all round for a determined and disciplined performance. Great credit is due to the management team and players for their efforts against a strong Mid Kerry team who boasted an array of Kerry players. While it was very much a team performance there was a number of stand out displays particularly from Brendan Kealy, Sean Brosnan, Philip Casey, Shane McSweeney, Noel Duggan and Kevin McCarthy. The team now face West Kerry in the losers round on Saturday next and will need to be successful to progress further in this competition. A special word of praise for Donal Dwyer and James Weldon who stepped forward to manage the team in the last two weeks with the support of Pat O’Driscoll, John Fitzgerald and D.J.Fleming.
